Adventure Touring in Connecticut

Connecticut's adventure scene is more intimate than its western counterparts but well-developed for its geography. Guided kayaking and canoe touring on the Connecticut River, Housatonic, and coastal estuaries provides the most active guided water experience in the state. The Litchfield Hills and Quiet Corner regions offer guided hiking and horseback riding through dairy farm countryside and forested ridge terrain. Guided zipline and aerial adventure courses have opened at several facilities in the northwest hills, and mountain biking has grown along the Metacomet Ridge trail system. Seasonal guided fishing operations target trout in the Farmington River and saltwater species along the Long Island Sound coastline.
