Sailing in Hawaii

Hawaii is a chain of volcanoes standing in the middle of the Pacific, and the guiding here reflects that raw geography. Kayak and snorkel expeditions run beneath the sea cliffs of Kauai's Na Pali Coast. On the Big Island, hikes cross the lava fields and steam vents of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Each island guides differently. Oahu pairs city convenience with genuinely wild ground in the Ko'olau Mountains. Maui swings between resort comfort and rough edges, Road to Hana hikes one day, Kaanapali ziplines the next. Kauai, the Garden Isle, is the wilderness-and-water island. The Big Island delivers the sharpest contrasts of the four: active volcanoes, snow-dusted summits, black sand beaches, sometimes all in a single day's tour.
