Sailing in Rhode Island

Guides in this interior lean toward interpretation: reading the ecology, spotting wildlife, working the varied terrain. It's the quieter half of Rhode Island, and it feels like a different state.

Then there's the fishing. Charters run out of Galilee and Newport for everything from inshore light-tackle work in Narragansett Bay to full offshore deep-sea trips in the Atlantic, and they welcome first-timers alongside serious anglers. Adventure parks add ziplines and aerial ropes courses for anyone who wants the adrenaline without the boat. The best part of Rhode Island's scale is how little driving sits between any of it, beach in the morning, forest trail by afternoon.
