Delaware Water Gap Rafting

Columbia, NJ
Whitewater Rafting

Delaware Water Gap Rafting runs guided whitewater raft and kayak trips on the Upper and Middle Delaware River through Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, the 70,000-acre federal unit that protects the river corridor along the New Jersey-Pennsylvania border. The Delaware is the longest free-flowing river east of the Mississippi and runs through a class I-III rapid sequence between Dingmans Ferry, Bushkill, and the gap itself, where the river cuts a 1,200-foot-deep notch through the Kittatinny Ridge. Trips include family-friendly half-day floats from Smithfield Beach to Kittatinny Point, full-day raft trips through Mary Ellen, Wallpack, and Foul Rift rapids, and shuttle support for self-guided kayak and canoe paddlers. The corridor is also part of the Middle Delaware Wild and Scenic River and offers some of the best mainstem river paddling in the Mid-Atlantic.

Pinelands Kayak Tours

Hammonton, NJ
Whitewater Rafting

Pinelands Kayak Tours guides paddlers through the Batsto, Wading, Mullica, and Oswego rivers in the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens, one of the largest contiguous pine forest ecosystems on the East Coast and a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The rivers run tea-colored from tannins leached out of Atlantic white cedar swamps and are fed almost entirely by spring discharge from the Kirkwood-Cohansey aquifer beneath the Pinelands, making them clear, slow, and remarkably constant in flow. Routes pass through Wharton State Forest and Bass River State Forest, paddling beneath cedar canopies and past the iron-bog ruins of Batsto Village and other 19th-century bog-iron and glass-making settlements. Tours are skill-tiered from flatwater introductions on Lake Atsion to full-day Mullica River trips that cover 10-plus miles of remote cedar swamp paddling.
