Adventure Touring in Delaware

Delaware's compact geography concentrates its adventure tourism along coastal and river corridors. Guided kayaking on the Delaware Bay, Indian River, and coastal bays around Rehoboth and Lewes provides the primary outdoor guided experience in the state. Guided horseback riding on Assateague Island beach — accessible from the Delaware side — is one of the more unusual equestrian experiences on the East Coast. Hiking in the piedmont and along the bay coastline is active year-round, with guided nature walks and birding tours particularly strong during shorebird migration season. The state serves a large regional population across the Delmarva Peninsula with accessible water-based adventure.
