The Superior Hiking Trail runs more than 300 miles along the ridgeline above the big lake, and guides lead everything from day hikes to full backpacking trips through old-growth forest and past overlooks that stop conversation. Blue Mounds State Park offers guided climbing on rock you won't find anywhere else in the state. Horseback tours cross state parks and forests at a walking pace the scenery deserves. Then winter arrives (reliably, emphatically), and guides trade canoes for snowmobiles, fat bikes, and cross-country skis on trail networks that stretch for hundreds of miles.
