Montana Whitewater is one of the premier whitewater rafting outfitters on the Gallatin River, running thrilling Class III–IV rapids through the dramatic walls of Gallatin Canyon just south of Bozeman and Big Sky. The Gallatin's swift, clear water carves through a narrow basalt canyon whose cliff faces rise hundreds of feet above the river, creating a wilderness experience just minutes from the ski slopes. Beyond the Gallatin, the outfitter also guides trips on the broad Madison River through the Beartrap Canyon Wilderness and on the Yellowstone River near Livingston, giving guests access to three of Montana's most iconic blue-ribbon waterways in a single region. Half-day, full-day, and family-friendly introductory floats are available from May through September, with peak flows and biggest waves occurring in June as Rocky Mountain snowmelt pushes the rivers to their annual high.
