Deerfield River Whitewater runs guided whitewater raft and kayak trips on the Deerfield River in Charlemont, Massachusetts's premier guided whitewater and one of the most reliable dam-release rivers in the Northeast. The Fife Brook section delivers a family-friendly class II-III run with named rapids like Hangover Helper, Pinball, and Freight Train winding through the Berkshire foothills under the shoulder of the Hoosac Range. Upstream, the Monroe Bridge Dryway offers a class IV release section for experienced paddlers when scheduled flows are run. Trips put in below Fife Brook Dam and take out at Zoar Gap, threading hemlock-shaded gorge between Florida and Charlemont along Route 2's Mohawk Trail. Releases are scheduled by Brookfield Renewable through the warm season, giving the river dependable flows from April through October.
