Guided horseback riding operation within Great Smoky Mountains National Park, one of only a handful of concession-permitted riding stables with access to the park's 550 miles of horse-legal trails. Trail rides depart from a stable on the Tennessee side of the park and follow the Sugarlands Valley trail system through old-growth hemlock and tulip poplar forest, crossing the Sugarlands creek corridor on routes accessible only by horse or foot. Guided one-hour and two-and-a-half-hour trail rides are offered, with the longer route climbing through second-growth forest to ridge viewpoints above the valley floor. No experience is required. The Smoky Mountains' horse trail network covers some of the most biologically diverse temperate forest in North America, and the park's concentrated wildlife — black bear, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and ruffed grouse — are regularly encountered on morning rides. One of the most distinctive horseback riding experiences in the eastern United States.
