Wisconsin adventure tourism is concentrated in the Northwoods lake district and along the Lake Superior shore. The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore draws guided sea kayaking expeditions to 21 forested islands on Lake Superior, with sea caves and wilderness camping providing a destination-quality experience within driving range of the upper Midwest. Guided fly fishing on the Bois Brule River for steelhead and the Wolf River for wild muskellunge draws clients from across the region. Snowmobile touring on Wisconsin's 25,000-mile groomed trail network — among the most extensive in the country — is a major winter industry. Guided horseback riding and mountain biking operate seasonally in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.
