The 605-acre Sea Pines Forest Preserve protects maritime live oak forest, freshwater wetlands, and a recreated Native American shell ring, with miles of sand trails winding past Lake Joe and Lake Chaplin. Beach rides are scheduled around tide windows, when the firm-packed sand below the high-tide line opens a wide riding corridor along the dune front. Horses are matched to rider experience from absolute beginner walks to intermediate trots through the forest, and tours run year-round with peak demand in spring and fall when Lowcountry temperatures are mildest.
